Updated: James Cameron joins Mountains of Madness...

I'm not sure what to make of this, but according to Deadline.com, Avatar director James Cameron will produce (along with Susan Montford and Don Murphy) Guillermo del Toro's 3D (yes, 3D) adaptation of At the Mountains of Madness. I've been unable to verify the news on any other horror site, so until I do (see below!), we'll file this one under rumour...

Update: Entertainment Weekly's Hollywood Insider has just broke this story as well, so things are looking up! I've also been informed that Deadline.com, a website that I was unfamiliar with, is a highly respected site that confirms their information before posting...

Update: Bloody-disgusting.com, Shocktillyoudrop.com, the
Los Angeles Times and Ain't It Cool News have all sourced the Deadline.com article...

Update: News of del Toro's dream project is spreading like Madness across the web with
MTV Movies Blog, New York Magazine, Collider.com, JoBlo.com, ComingSoon.net and horror-movies.ca, Dark Horizons, Dread Central, sf-fantasy.suvudu.com (who mention the wonderful audio recordings of Julia Morgan or MorganScorpion to readers of Unfilmable.com), FEARnet, /Film and fangoria.com (and literally dozens more) all running with the story...

According to the various sites reporting,
pre-production could begin in the coming weeks, with filming to begin as early as the first quarter of 2011. Screenplay re-writes are currently underway...

This could very likely be the story of the year, so watch this space for more!
